I'm the Dead Head Sticker on the Cadillac of Life.
Don't neglect your body. Get worked on regularly - find another therapist to trade with.

Keep your liability insurance current. People can try to sue you for everything.

I loved doing chair at Wholefoods, but I injured my wrists doing it for 2 years. Make sure to balance out the modalities you do so as not to overwork any one part of yourself.

Taxes: If you are working for yourself, put aside at least 30% and don't touch it for anything other than taxes! I learned this one the hard way =/

As far as places to work, make sure to get stuff in writing re: your percentages, etc. The chain places *cough*massage envy*cough are assembly line sweatshops. I worked at a ME two days and felt like I was selling my soul!! Most people getting a $39 massage do not tip, and you only get $15-$19 dollars out of that rate.

Good luck! I would also advise to keep learning! Add to your basic training -- stuff like Reiki and other energy work.

I hope this helped!

oh, did you mean for the staff of the store, or for customers? i was just thinin about draggin my chair over and setting up outside. id being on of those people that annoy you as you go in and out, though im not much of a sales person so id just probably hand out cards, talk to people, and wait for someone to hop into the chair.

you absolutely cannot do this. you'll need a vendor's license, for one. google "street vendor license" for your state. if you're too close to the property, you might even get arrested for trespassing. learn the laws of your state before practicing any kind of business!
